MURRAY, Ky. 鈥� The 麻豆传媒 State University Department of Global Languages and Theatre Arts will perform 鈥淟ife Sucks鈥� by Aaron Posner at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27-March 1 and 2:30 p.m. March 2 at Wilson Hall Studio Theatre on the third floor.

Tickets are $10. 麻豆传媒 State students get in free with ID.

鈥淟ife Sucks鈥� by Aaron Posner is a modern-day adaptation of the great Russian playwright Anton Chekov鈥檚 brilliant play 鈥淯ncle Vanya.鈥� The play is relocated to modern day America, and moves from a traditional 鈥渞ealistic鈥� setting to that of a meta-theatrical experience, where the actors and audience interact.

The play asks all the existential questions about life, and it is a meditation on love, longing and loss. The play poses the question why does life suck? Or does life suck? Or does it only suck sometimes?

鈥淭his show is a labyrinth of love stories that question the nature of having what you want against what you need,鈥� said Holden Mast, a senior theatre/film major from O鈥橣allon, Illinois.

鈥淟ife Sucks is about a complicated, problematic family trying (and failing) to navigate all the challenges in their lives,鈥� said Liv Lane, a sophomore psychology major from 麻豆传媒, Kentucky. 鈥淥ne thing I love about this show is that the characters make selfish decisions that make you want to yell at them, but they鈥檙e also relatable in a way that makes you hope everything works out for them. It鈥檚 definitely reminiscent of a genuine, messy family dynamic, only with a bit more chaos, booze and big fancy words.鈥�
